2:5 is different from 5:2 because 2 boys are being compared to 5 girls and 5:2 is 5 girls being compared to 2 boys. 10/7/2013 11:27:59 am
A unit rate can be expressed by saying for example:

2:5 is different to 5:2, because in the first one is comparing boys to girls and the second one is comparing girls to boys. a unit rate is where you show what your measuering and how many of something per something. example: $5 per toy.

the difference between 5:2 and 2:5 is that it shows a different fraction like 5/2 or 2 and 1/2 and 2/5

The ratio of 2 boys : 5 girls is different because they switched the numbers around. You would know if an answer is a unit rate because it would look like this ______Price____. A ratio would look like a fraction,_ to _, or when Number
Ms. L. Scott

Your unit rate is missing some information. Please make sure to review your INB.

The reason the two ratios, 2boys:5girls and 5girls:2boys, are different is they are reversed

The order matters because your question depends on it. For instance if I asked for boys then why would you tell me about girls. Therefore if they asked for boys first that's what you discuss. Also in a real world sceniro if you were planning a party and the ratio was 2 girls to 5 boys, would you make 5 goodie bags for the girls at the party? Think about who would not get a party bag based on your incorret ratio.

The ratio of 2 boys to 5 girls is different form 5 girls to 2 boys because the ratios are switched to represent boys to girls or girls to boys. I can tell something is a unit rate because it always has a 1 as the denominator which shows how much something is for the amount of 1

2:5 is different from 5:2 because 2 boys is being compared to 5 girls which is not the same as 5 girls being compared to 2 boys. Another way of saying it is if you had 2 boys for every 5 girls, or 5 girls for every 2 boys.
